Social virtual reality platform AltspaceVR has today announced they are partnering with Dungeons and Dragons publisher Wizards of the Coast to bring the tabletop RPG to virtual reality.

Tabletop RPG's have long been the "holy grail" of video games, offering a fairly intense social experience and a nearly limitless potential, providing you have someone to run the game. But converted Dungeons and Dragons to digital has proven to be a tough task. How do you translate the dice-rolling social aspect to a videogame?

“D&D is extremely social, which is why we are so excited to offer it in AltspaceVR,” said Eric Romo, AltspaceVR's CEO “Players love it! We’ve seen them hang out together for sessions lasting six hours—previously only developers spent that long in VR.”

I'm not sure how appealing a marathon roleplaying session while strapped into a VR headset really is, but the mish-mash of pen and paper and cutting edge virtual reality is intriguing.

Logging in to AltspaceVR from today will give you access to a virtual tavern and licensed character sheets, terrain tiles and figurines to allow you to run your own tabletop adventures.

The battle-royale match in free-fire consists of a total of 50 players which takes up to 10 minutes to finish the entire game. In this mode, 50 players drop down from the plane to their desired place on the map and find their favourite weapons. After that, they compete with each other, avoiding airstrikes and the play zone, which sinks after every 2 minutes. At last, the final standing man wins the match after surviving for 10 minutes.
